Ashley shares her real life journey, a story of drugs, rebellion and hitting ‘rock bottom.’ And the breakthroughs which led her to understand the complex and healthy relationship one must have with beauty and one’s identity- in order to thrive. Ashley’s journey includes a spiritual awakening which she describes as ‘a calling’ to help other women love who they truly are.
I can’t speak for men and I certainly cannot speak for other woman. However I can tell you this separating who I am from how I appear and perform- has been a life long struggle for me. This is an important conversation. Ashley’s courage to own her past inspires me to continue the work of separating what I look like from who I am and the precious value my life has regardless of what others think it ‘looks’ like.
The good news is with young women like Ashley taking off their masks it gives us all permission to ask ourselves to come out of hiding. I
So remember you are beautiful. You were created as a precious, rare and one-of-a-kind miracle. So regardless of how the world responds to your physical appearance press into your true self, your identity and grow into the fullest expression of yourself.
During our conversation Ashley mentioned her favorite book, Captivating. And after perusing it I found this quote that seemed to echo Ashley’s message.
“Every woman in her heart of hearts longs for three things: to be romanced, to play an irreplaceable role in a great adventure, and to unveil beauty.”
